Aunt Bessie’s expands Yorkshire pudding range

Family-owned Aunt Bessie’s is taking its much-loved Yorkshire pudding range into the chilled category with its new Chilled Yorkshire Puddings.

The new packs of six Yorkshire puddings, which have a more home-style appearance than the frozen range, are made using Aunt Bessie’s special recipe to create the perfect addition to any roast dinner any day of the week.

Claire Glen, Senior Brand Manager for Yorkshire puddings at Aunt Bessie’s, which is owned by the William Jackson Food Group, said: “Shoppers have told us through independent benchmarking that we produce the highest quality Yorkshire Puddings and as the leaders in Yorkshire Puddings, if Yorkshire puddings are being sold in a shop, whether in chilled or frozen, people expect to be able to find Aunt Bessie’s.

Aunt Bessie's Promise 1 - Eggs

We are proud to say that we do not use any eggs from hens that live in cages. This is something that is very important to us and to make sure we have enough eggs to keep this promise we purchase from the UK and also carefully selected European flocks.

Aunt Bessie's Promise 2 - Store Cupboard Ingredients

We only use ingredients that you would find in your store cupboard at home in our frozen food.

The only exceptions to this is where preservation is required in ambient products to maintain the quality of the product at consumption.

Aunt Bessie's Promise 3 - Palm Oil

We’re committed to using fully segregated sustainable palm oil and are making good progress. Like many other large UK companies, we said we’d be 100 per cent sustainable by 2015 but in reality we hope to hit this target sooner.

Aunt Bessie's Promise 4 - Meat

We are proud to support British farmers and use only British meat in our recipes. We do not use any mechanically recovered meat.

Aunt Bessie's Promise 5 - Chocolate

By the end of 2014 we will only use either Fairtrade or UTZ accredited chocolate in our recipes.

Aunt Bessie's Promise 6 - Board Packaging

All of the board we use is from sustainable sources – either accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) chains of custody.

Aunt Bessie's Promise 7 - Flexible Packaging

10% of all the film we use to package our products is recyclable (with carrier bags) in existing facilities (vegetables, onion rings and breaded mushrooms).

The other 90% (Yorkshire Puddings, Potatoes) we are currently working on to either use as little film as possible or make this film recyclable as well. We aim to complete this work by June 2015.

Aunt Bessie's Promise 8 - Sedex

We encourage our suppliers to be members of Sedex. Sedex, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, is a not for profit membership organisation dedicated to driving improvements in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains.
