The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is the world's largest breeder and trainer of working dogs. The charity helps blind and partially sighted people across the UK through the provision of guide dogs, mobility, and other services for both adults and children.
Since 1931, over 36,000 lives have been transformed through a guide dog partnership, thanks to their dedicated staff and volunteers and your vital donations.
Our partnership with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association was developed following our latest TV advert which told the true story of Nana June who cooked her family a delicious Sunday dinner each week, despite living with sight loss.
Nana June plays a key role in our ‘Caring is the hardest thing we do’ campaign, highlighting what it means to care for loved ones and how a Sunday dinner brings busy families together.
Here at Aunt Bessie's, we've been supporting the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in many ways, including:
- Educating staff as part of our diversity and inclusion programme, through talks and engagement sessions around living with sight loss
- Raising crucial funds for Guide Dogs through various initiatives
- Fundraising to name a puppy (you guessed it... she's called Bessie!)
You can find out more about Guide Dogs for the Blind, how they support the visually impaired, and get information on how to become a Puppy Raiser by visiting the Guide Dogs website.
Introducing Bessie, the assistance dog
Born in January 2021, golden retriever puppy Bessie started her journey to become a life-changing guide for a person living with sight loss.
Bessie currently lives with a Guide Dogs volunteer who will care for and socialise her. Bessie will be taught basic commands and skills up to the age of approximately 12 months, after which she will move on to her formal guide dog training.
Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire Pudding Dog Beds
Our team have specially crafted a limited-edition dog bed for Yorkshire pudding fans, designed to replicate an Aunt Bessie's Golden Yorkshire Pudding. This super-soft, comfy bed is made from a faux fur fleece material with a padded base and sides.
It’s the ideal size for puppies like Bessie, small-to-medium sized dogs or even cats! With 100% of proceeds donated to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, buying one today will help people suffering with sight loss live the lives they choose.
Unfortunately, we've sold out of these limited-edition dog beds at the moment but keep an eye out for more exciting things to come!
Thank you for supporting our partnership with guide dogs and your ongoing donations. We really couldn’t have done this without you. Find out about who we are, our commitment to inclusion and serving the world with better food.
