Now that you’ve got the lowdown on how to cook Aunt Bessie’s frozen parsnips, why not take a look at our range of other articles? We’ve got tips on cooking pancakes, Yorkshire pudding meal inspiration and how to cook the best roast potatoes too!
Preheat the oven Preheating your oven is key, as this helps you maintain accurate temperatures and timings to get crispy roast parsnips every time. Set the oven to 220°C /425°F/Gas mark 7 and leave it to come up to temperature.
Preparing parsnips There’s no need to prep or peel Aunt Bessie’s parsnips –they’re ready to go when you are! While the oven preheats, take your parsnips out of their packaging, and recycle it. If you want to make washing up easier, spread some aluminium foil to protect your baking tray. Drizzle some olive oil over the baking tray/foil and parsnips to prevent them from getting stuck while they cook. A little olive oil can add some extra crispiness and flavour to your parsnips also.
Place onto baking tray Place your parsnips onto your baking tray and add salt and pepper to taste. Everyone knows parsnips and honey go together like nothing else, and although our frozen parsnips are coated in batter and pre-fried with a drizzle of homemade orange blossom honey, you can always add a little extra honey if you like them extra sweet. Alternatively, why not also add some wholegrain mustard or butter to give them even more flavour? Now you’re ready to put them in the oven and set your timer!
Roast! So, we now reach the age-old question: how long to roast parsnips? We’d recommend aiming for 25-30minutes (until they are golden brown) to ensure a perfect crisp coating and fluffy interior.
Turn Cooking parsnips in the oven can sometimes cause them to bake unevenly, so it’s important to turn them over halfway through the cooking time to avoid this, as well as to not burn off the glaze.
Serve! After 25 to 30 minutes, take your parsnips out of the oven and serve!
