To make lemon curd you’ll need to put lemon zest and juice, sugar, melted butter and eggs in a bowl, over a pan of simmering water.

Mix everything together and stir for approximately 10 minutes.

Strain the cooked lemon curd through a sieve to remove the lemon zest. If you like it hot then pour directly onto your waffles, otherwise place it in a sterilised jar and leave in the fridge for an hour or so.

Spoon over your cooked waffles, top with icing sugar, and enjoy!

 

4. Peanut butter and jelly

If you don’t mind sticky hands, then this is the one for youSimply add as much peanut butter as you want on top of your waffles and finish with your favourite fruity jam.

Get ready for the fun to begin, as we show you how to create yummy options from things found in your fridge. Read on for some unconventional but extra delicious options:

 

1. Chilli con carne

We know this might sound controversial but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! Take a few spoons of leftover chilli con carne, layer up over your waffles before topping with some sour cream. Scrumptious!

 

2. Mac ‘n cheese and crispy bacon

We know, we know...we might be pushing it a little with this one, but who doesn’t love mac ‘n cheese? Get the full American experience by digging into this plate, and pair it with a milkshake!
When cooking the pasta, take it off the heat to drain a couple of minutes earlier than the suggested cooking time. Set aside, and save a cup of pasta water.
For the cheese sauce, melt butter in a medium sized pan on a low heat, then add the flour and mix well. Very gradually add the milk, stirring constantly.
Add mustard, salt, pepper and half the cheese, stir to combine and take off the heat.
Tip the pasta and 1-2 tablespoons of pasta water into the cheese sauce and stir.
Pour the entire mix into a greased ovenproof dish and cover with the remaining cheese.
Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until brown on top.
Fry the bacon while the mac ‘n cheese is in the oven and thenonce everything is readyadd it to your fragrant waffles.

 

3. Eggs benedict
